Top Traditional Medicines For Candida

Before going for store-bought solutions for Candida or yeast infection, it would not hurt to consider traditional medicines first and see if they work for you. The term “yeast infection” generally refers to an infection that develops in the female genitalia, although Candida infections also happen in other parts of the body as well, such as the digestive tract and the mouth. Candida is a type of yeast or fungus that is normally found in the body as part of its normal microbial flora, and their growth is controlled by other good bacteria the body likewise has. There are a lot of sitiuations wherein the body cannot seem to control Candida growth, which can lead to a yeast infection.

While there are a number of prescription drugs and over-the-counter reliefs for yeast infection, more women are starting to try the natural route to possibly reduce the entry of more fungi into their bodies to prevent further infection.

Traditional medicines are just about everywhere, especially in the household, and one need only to know how to use them to earn the benefits of a yeast infection-free life.

The medium-chain fatty acid caprylic found in coconut oil has stong antifungal properties. This acid, along with other antifungal acids lauric and capric acid, are all in coconut oil. The best form of coconut oil is virgin or extra virgin coconut oil, which is prepared differently from copra. There have been numerous reports on the efficacy of coconut oil, with the proposed dosage of four tablespoons spread throughout the day and lesser dosage as the infection clears out. The oil can also be applied directly to the affected area as a means of a more direct delivery to the affected site.

Another option is colloidal silver, which are silver particles suspended in water. Before the advent of antibiotics, colloidal silver was used to fight a great number of bacteria and fungi in the body. Cleansing the colon combats Candida infection, and one option for this is psyllium husk. The high fiber in psyllium absorbs various microbes and toxins in the body including Candida albicans.

The oil of oregano or Oregano vulgare is another one of the traditional medicines recommended for yeast infection. Commonly used as a cooking ingredient or condiment, this oil also has antifungal qualities. This oil is quite potent, so a few drops in water is the recommended dose, as an increased dosage might cause mucous membrane irritation. Then there’s garlic, which is probably the most common of household remedies agains yeast infection. The advantage of garlic over store bought medicines is that our bodies do not form a resistance to it due to the numerous substances that have both antifungal and antibacterial properties. Garlic is most effective taken raw, it needs to be chopped to allow its juices to come out. It can be folded into food or taken with water.

Green leafy vegetables is yet another one of the traditional medicines for Candida infection, particularly the green algae spirulina and chlorella. These algae has high nutritional and detoxification properties that are best for clearing the colon.

In all of these options, there is not one that cures each and every form of Candida or yeast infection. It is never the same for everyone, so a clean and healthy lifestyle coupled with some of these traditional medicines is definitely a good start to ridding yourself of this annoying and potentially dangerous infection.

This is my very favorite tea. I used to drink Earl Grey and wanted to go herbal, but find an herbal with a good strong flavor. This is the one. Great ginger flavor. It truly is less expensive and more convenient for me to order this tea through Amazon’s Subscribe-and-Save program than purchasing it at a supermarket or organic foods store.

My chiropractor suggested ginger tea to help me with some digestive issues. It really helps! And with a little squirt of hazelnut agave, it’s delicious!! Drink a cup before meals for better digestion or after meals to ease bloating.
